Join Tekapo Adventures for an authentic comfortable scenic 4WD tour through the high country wilderness of the Mackenzie Country. 

This journey offers breath-taking landscapes travelling through Glenmore Station, one of New Zealand’s finest Merino wool providers and incredible High Country Stations. Private entry offers remote access to the remarkable backcountry and outstanding scenery of The Cass Valley. 

Journey on an incredible Mackenzie High Country experience by scenic 4WD tour into Lake Tekapo’s legendary natural landscapes. Discover towering mountains, glaciers, river crossings and incredible scenery, while learning about the unique geology, ecology and history that formed this part of New Zealand’s South Island. 

 

After stopping for refreshments at the historic musterers Waterfall Hut in the lower part of the Cass Valley get picked up by an Air Safaris helicopter and continue up the Cass Valley via Tin Hut Stream to the Liebig Range and the edge of the Aoraki Mount Cook National Park.

Enjoy the incredibly rugged high alpine environment of Glenmore Station and across to the permanent snow and ice of the national park. See the high alpine areas that are the summer home to the Merino Sheep on Glenmore.

Experience the excitement of a landing at high altitude on the Liebig Range or beside the “Whiskey Hut” on the upper reaches of Glenmore Station to enjoy the spectacular vista and get some photos.

The return flight back to Tekapo offers a totally different perspective of the Cass & Fork Valleys to the drive in. From the air get a birds eye view of all the unique glacial landforms that make up the topography of the Mackenzie Basin.

Dress Code: Casual, Comfortable, Stable Footwear, warm Jacket, Hat, Sunglasses, Camera.

 

Tour Notes: There will opportunities for photos and breath-taking vistas to enjoy. Light walking to close proximity viewpoints for photos, so stable footwear is recommended. Helicopter landing site will vary on conditions but will normally be on snow.

 

Cancellation: If the helicopter flight cannot operate due to weather conditions the ground tour can usually still go ahead. A refund of $416-00 per person will be made.
